Ripple Effects

Project Management & Asset Design |  2024-2026

Objective + Concept

Create an illustration to describe research done over the past four years by the Ripple Effects team, a grant-based research team working in Oregon. Using the metaphor of a community garden, illustrate the process of grant distribution and it’s effects on suicide prevention in LGBTQIA+ communities across the state.

These graphics are used in both print and digital materials within the communities and at confrences to encourage further distribution of grant money.

Process

After originally meeting with the Ripple team, we pitched 5 art styles to choose from. They liked an isometric, chunky art style because of the modular nature. We moved forward creating base plots that told the story of additional infrastructure and it’s impact on a small community garden. We went through multiple phases of iterations to ensure that the graphic aligned with not only the team’s ideas, but the grantees who were involved as well.

We created multiple additional graphics for them as well to aid in their appeals to other grant funders that may exist at confrences they are presenting at. We also designed t-shirts and sticker books to further utilize the graphics.

Significance

The Ripple Effects project was an extended project that highlighted community outreach, project management, and working with an extensive list of stakeholders. The goal was to make sure that the community felt well reflected in the work produced which led to the modular approach to the final set of graphics. I primarily worked on client outreach, project management, presentation design, and the implementation of the designs onto various media. This is an ongoing project.
